Big Game Fishing Trips in Dubai

Introduction

When thinking of booking a fishing trip in Dubai, most people think of Dubai deep sea fishing trips, where individuals go on a boat ride, reach the fishing spot, drop their fishing lines in deep water, and wait for a fish bite. During deep-sea fishing trips in Dubai, you are most expected to land small to medium-sized fish.

However, a handful of groups are interested in a more thrilling adventure, where the odds are higher in the favor of landing big-game fish in Dubai. If you are interested in the high potential of landing big game fish, such as Kingfish and Cobia, then our big-game fishing trips are the right choice for you!

Dubai big game fishing trips are 6-hour fishing trips, beginning (very) early morning, and ending around the afternoon time. During such fishing trips, small and medium-sized fish are not targeted and are not frequently encountered. Big-game fishing trips in Dubai use live bait to attract bites from big fish in the area and are conducted relatively close to shores and islands

Logistics and what is included

Dubai big-game fishing trips are private full-day fishing trips (i.e., for 6 hours), starting between 5:00 – 6:00 AM, for a maximum of six passengers. The trip is all-inclusive, and you will be provided with:

  • Fishing equipment for catching live bait and big game fish
  • Complimentary soft drinks and cold juices
  • Safety equipment (e.g., life jackets)

The trip

The fishing trip begins early morning, before sunrise, departing from Port Rashid Marina in Dubai. You will be on-boarded on our fishing boat “Nezuko” and will enjoy the fishing trip in two parts:

Part ONE

During the first part of the fishing trip, you will go to a nearby fishing spot and try to catch small to medium-sized fish that will be used as live bait for the second part of the fishing trip. During this part, the targeted bait fish are the Orange-spotted Trevally and small-medium Barracudas.

This part of the big-game fishing trip is critical, as it is not possible to proceed into the second part of the trip without having caught enough live bait.

It usually takes around one hour to land enough live bait for the second part of the fishing trip.

The Orange-spotted Trevally and small-medium Barracudas caught during this part of the trip will be put in a live bait tank (i.e., an aquarium) with constant water flow to ensure sufficient levels of Oxygen are maintained to keep the fish alive.

In limited instances, where you are not able to catch live bait, the trip will resume as a regular full-day fishing trip, and no refund will be made.

Part TWO

During the second part of the big game fishing trip, it is time to catch big Kingfish,  Barracudas, and Cobia! The captain will start by determining a suitable destination where such big game fish are likely to be swimming around. Big game fish are caught by trolling live bait in high, mid, and deep water, at extremely slow speeds.

Therefore, upon arrival, our crew will begin to prepare three trolling rods, one for each depth level, and hook the live bait on a metal wire at the end of the line. The metal wire is important as big fish tend to have sharp teeth and a significant bite force!

Once everything is ready and in place, it is time to relax and wait for the big fish to bite. This part is a good part to strike up conversations and take photos as you wait for the next bite.

It is important to note that big-game fish are much less abundant in Dubai (and the world) in comparison to small and medium-sized fish, and therefore, big-game fishing trips may end without landing any big game catch. The catching rate of big game fish in Dubai, assuming live bait has been successfully obtained, hovers around 80-85%. With greater rewards come greater risks!
