Today, 5 June 2022, the world celebrates the infamous World Environment Day, a celebration that first started in 1973. As an integral part of our blue planet’s environment, covering more than 70% of Earth’s surface, oceans rightfully deserve the biggest chunk of attention

As an entity involved in conducting deep-sea fishing trips, Ocealics emphasizes the utmost importance of preserving our oceans before it is too late. Every person within the Ocealics community plays a vital role in sustaining the oceans for many more years to come. Both staff and guests must always put in their best efforts to ensure that all fishing tours are conducted according to local and international best practices.

How can you enjoy your fishing trip without hurting the environment?

Here are some tips for environmentally sustainable deep-sea fishing trips:

  • Always stay up to date with local environmental and fishing laws in Dubai and always ensure strict compliance.
  • When accidentally hooking fish under the minimum legal length (according to UAE Ministerial Decree No. 580 of 2015) or when hooking banned species (such as dolphins and turtles), always release the animals back into the water in the safest manner possible.
  • Do not dump waste into the ocean! All our fishing boats contain specific containers for discarding waste.
  • If you encounter waste that can be easily removed during your deep-sea fishing trip in Dubai such as plastic bottles and bags, use the net available on board our fishing boats to collect the waste. The crew will discard the waste in an appropriate manner once back to the departure port.
