Shape and color
The Coral Hind has a small, long squishy body with a fat belly and a relevantly large mouth. It is brownish red/orange in color with blue/green dots scattered throughout its body.
Habitat
It is commonly found swimming around coastal and off-shore coral reefs in the exposed sea, and is found swimming individually, not in schools.
Feeding
It is known for predatory feeding behavior, where it ambushes unsuspecting prey. It feeds on a variety of small fish and crustaceans.
Fishing season
It is a common fish in the waters of the UAE and can be encountered throughout the year. It does, however, prefer Winter months and is not as common during the Summer months of June, July, and August.
Fishing method
It can be caught using various fishing techniques including fishing rods, and fish traps (locally known as Gargoor).
