Yellowfin Bream - شعم - By IG @kamaljr1189
The Yellowfin Bream or as its known in the UAE, Sha’am (شعم) can be caught using various fishing techniques including fishing nets, fishing rods, and fish traps (locally known as Gargoor). It is not a commonly encountered fish in the waters of the UAE; however, it may be encountered throughout the year but generally, it seems to prefer the winter months of December up to April. You can find it grazing for prey on rocky surfaces and feed on many marine species including mollusks, crustaceans, some species of soft coral, and many others. To ensure that it's a Yellowfin Bream, make sure it has an asymmetrical body with a curvy back and a semi-flat belly, almost round in shape, that is shiny silver in color with yellow pectoral, dorsal, and caudal fins.
Minimum legal length: No minimum legal length.
Fishing status: Not banned.
